A shooting last night sends a man to the hospital with serious injuries.

31-year old Jonathan Smith suffered a single gunshot wound to the neck.  Chattanooga Police say the incident occurred at 3907 15th Avenue, but witnesses say Smith and a female driver pulled into the Big Daddy's convenience store parking lot in the 3900 block of Dodds Avenue to get help.  Witness Destiny Wooten says
the woman was "sitting down on the ground with his head in her lap and she kept screaming his name, Jonathan, Jonathan, please answer me baby please Jonathan and there was no response. And there was blood all around her and all in the car."

Smith underwent surgery last night at a local hospital.

The investigation continues.
