Chattanooga Police PIO Nathan Hartwig reports the following:

The local Military Order of the Purple Heart, Ernie Pyle Chapter 1945, awarded Chattanooga Police Officer Lorin Johnston a plaque for the injuries he sustained on April 2, 2011.
Officer Johnston was shot two times as he responded to a robbery-in-progress call at the U.S. Money Pawn Store located at 5952 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN.
The Chapter Commander, Chris Cole, awarded the plaque to Officer Johnston and explained that their goal is to recognize First Responders who are injured in the line-of-duty.
Officer Johnston’s family and coworkers were present for the award as well as eight members of the MOPH, Chapter 1945.
All of the members of the MOPH Chapter 1945 were also Purple Heart recipients from injuries they sustained in either the Korean War or Vietnam War.
