Chattanooga Tea Party Vice President Gregg Juster says they knew something wasn't right with all the trouble they were getting from the IRS, but didn't know how wide spread it was until recently.
"Everything you are seeing in the news and in the paper, the Chattanooga Tea Party went through," said Juster during Thursday's Tea Party Meeting.
Tea Party members were filled in on the difficulty they went through to become a non-profit.
Juster says the IRS asked for massive amounts of information.
"They wanted to know what our members were thinking.  Whats going on through their minds, What are they thinking.  That's pretty bizarre.  Going back at all our Facebook posts for a year.  What's scary was, who are your donors," said Juster.
Representative Mike Carter, R-Ooltewah, was a guest speaker at the meeting.
He says the Tea Party isn't going to stand for what's happened.
"It did nothing to them except energize them to fight on further.  They made a serious mistake," Carter said.
Juster said it isn't just Tea Party Members that should take a stand.
"Don't you understand this could happen to you?" Juster said.  "The IRS scares everybody.  This should not have to do with the Tea Party, conservatives, This should have to do with Americans of all type."
