Chattanooga Tea Party members say they were among the many groups unfairly targeted by the IRS, so the IRS is exactly where they went to protest.
Tea Party groups across the country did the same at their local IRS offices
Chattanooga's Tea Party Vice President Gregg Juster says they're not protesting the IRS, just what they did.
"More of what we're doing is protesting a tax code when you're talking about the IRS, that gives them and their federal overlords, the senators, congressmen, the federal part of the bureaucracy, gives them control of what they want to do," said Juster.
The Chattanooga Tea Party went through three years of intense questioning by the IRS when they were trying to become a non-profit organization.
They believe the federal government abused it's power by using the IRS to get information on conservative and Tea Party groups.
"It is very primary to our community for us to have our freedoms and the ability to speak our minds, and any time that is threatened, that's a threat to our way of life," said protestor Connie Dickey.
"Our government was formulated to serve the people.  The government now serves the government.  They want the people to serve the government," Juster said.
