A debate that's been going on for months will go on for at least two more weeks.
The city council was scheduled to vote on the rezoning of the hilltop area of Highway 153 in Hixson.
Council member Pam Ladd said,  "There's a lot of passion about this issue.  There's a lot of anxiety about this issue.  So, I would vote to defer only because there have been a lot of good questions raised this evening that I would like my colleagues to have completed information on to take a vote."
Council member Andre McGary motioned to defer their vote two more weeks.
The eight to one vote was made after the applicant and the opponents were given nine minutes each to state their position.
Community members say this deferral isn't going to change much.
Jerry Jones said, " I think it should've been deferred much longer than that.  As I've said all along.  Two weeks isn't gonna solve it for anybody."
Many council members showed favor for the development of Chattanooga Village, but saw too many flaws and uncertainty in the plans.
