Chattanooga man arrested for 4th DUI also charged with homicide

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Chattanooga man who was arrested three times for DUI is now facing a vehicular homicide charge along with a fourth DUI charge.

According to Hamilton County Criminal Court officials, Christopher Hinnard, 35, of Chattanooga was indicted by a grand jury for a head-on collision that killed another motorist who was identified as Allen Phillips, 45.

The crash happened on the night of May 11 of last year.

According to police, Phillips was driving southbound on Rossville Blvd. in a black van when he was struck head-on by a White van driven by Christopher Hinnard, 34.

At the time of crash, Hinnard was listed in critical condition and charges against him were pending.

Hinnard was taken into custody on Wednesday and reportedly posted bond.

WDEF did some searching and found out this wasn’t  Hinnard's first problem behind the wheel.
In 2007, Hinnard was was convicted on his third DUI offense while driving on a revoked license.
