Cheers and tears of joy greeted the announcement of the new pope at Notre Dame High School.
Students left class and gathered in the library to watch a live feed from the Vatican.
Parents joined their children and teachers as the wait grew closer and closer.
One student already had an idea of the kind of pope he would like to lead the church.
"He's nice, I'd like him to visit places, kind of be a zen to everybody, even though nobody knows anything, it would still be pretty great if he had a ton of answers".
Staff and students rejoiced when Argentine, Jorge Mario Bergoglio took to the papal balcony becoming the 266th pope.
