Several homes and other businesses in the Chattanooga County area were damaged or destroyed during severe thunderstorms on Monday. The weather left nearly four thousand North Georgia electric customers without power throughout the night.
Summerville, Georgia also felt the effects of the storms as they hit the city.
As of this afternoon power had been restored to all but around 100 electric customers.
"We've got about six streets right now that are still unpassable, so crews are working to remove those trees and debris. The aftermath we will probably be working some weeks to clean up the mess. Crews are really doing a good job, we've worked with the county and Georgia Power," said Summerville City Manager Russell Thompson.
Chattooga County schools and Trion City Schools were also delayed two hours this morning because of the damage.
