Cleveland SWAT Standoff Leaves 12 Year Old Boy Unharmed

CLEVELAND, TN, (WDEF)-A Be On The Lookout or BOLO for the car of wanted man, Larry Silmon led Cleveland Police to this apartment on Adkisson Drive.

Evie West, Cleveland Police Dept,"So officers went to the house because he did have active warrants for a violation of parole for an armed robbery that he committed"

Silmon had barricaded himself inside the home with a 12 year old boy and refused to come out until SWAT arrived just after midnight.

"It wasn't that he was holding the 12 year old boy hostage he actually, the 12 year old boy came out of the house freely and when the door was open the SWAT team made entry into the house"

Silmon was found hiding in the attic.
Police recovered two loaded handguns from the home.
Neighbors are in complete shock.

Aysia Grimsley,Neighbor,"It's definitely concerning especially because I live here and I walk here back and forth every morning and night, so that is kind of scary"

Grimsley says incidents like this so close to a college of more than 3000 students is concerning.

"Aysia Grimsley, Neighbor, Its hard knowing that what happened right close to where they are having study could be very distracting"

Silmon's being charged by Cleveland Police Dept with convicted felon with a weapon.

Silmon is currently being held at Bradley County Judicial Complex.
Police believe the young boy is now safe and has been  returned to his mother.
