CLEVELAND, TN, (WDEF)-Racing has been part of Cleveland culture since the 1960s,
Campaigners gathered at the track from 11 Wednesday Morning.

Supporters, fans and former drivers say this is an integral part of their community here in Cleveland and to lose it would be a tragedy.

"This track is a family, the fans the racers everyone that works here it's a family"

Lisa Brooks has worked at the speedway for six years and says it has to be saved because this is their home.

"Family fights, but the love each other in the end and they are there for each other, if someone needs something we are there for each other, my daughter was diagnosed two years ago and had to have a bone marrow transplant, this family came together and raised the money to take care of us"

For local drivers losing the venue will be losing a part of history.

Brad Cross, Mini-stock division driver,"You never know what you are going to get with the competitors that come here, you know every week you got to be on top of your game and bring the absolute best you got, it's just, amazing"

The current management for the speedway spoke to us by phone but said they cannot confirm what will happen.

One racing fan is hoping for a positive outcome.

Cody Herron, Racing Fan,"Come in here and buy this place and maybe do some updating, the grandstands and that's about all this place needs to be a good facility again"

Lawyers representing the venue were unavailable for comment today.

Campaigners say they will continue to fight for their race track.

A facebook page has been set up to bring the racing community of East Tennessee together to campaign for the track's future to be resolved.
