Charlie McKenzie has given up at least one of his titles.
He was a Deputy for the Bradley County Sheriff's Office, until two other Deputies accused him of making racist comments while in uniform.
Chief Deputy Wayne Bird says the department was investigating the situation...but they never got the chance to talk to him about it.
"It's my understanding just in conversation some off color or racial slurs were made just in their presence and they thought it was unprofessional," said Bird.
After requesting off for medical reasons, McKenzie wanted to go on medical leave, which Bird says is practically resigning since he was part time.
"A part time employee doesn't have medical leave and he was a hourly part time employee. But he is not and will not be employed by the Sheriff's office," Bird said.
McKenzie has also been serving as a Cleveland city council member for about two years, one council member told us McKenzie was at this Monday's meeting, and he said nothing about the incident.
We called McKenzie for comment but he hasn't returned our call.
We also went to his house, but no answer.
Bird says had the investigation been completed and confirmed McKenzie made the comments, they would have fired him.
He said, "He'd definitely be terminated for making those comments. That's unprofessional but it's also conduct unbecoming."
