It's being run by the Diocese of Knoxville and
comes after a surplus of funds was available through the Sisters of Mercy.
The health unit aims to serve 36 east Tennessee Counties.
Those behind the the plan are excited to carry on the good work of the "St Mary's Legacy Foundation."
John Deinheart of the Diocese of Knoxville is excited by the project
"To serve those under served communities, those places where folks don't have access to healthcare, don't have, are under insured or uninsured and tend to fall through the network".
Sister Mary Martha of the Sisters of Mercy has spent 30 years in the health care profession, "We realize that there are many people in areas outside of the normal cities of Chattanooga and Knoxville".
95 per cent of clients served through these programs are not Catholic.
