Annexation in Chattanooga was a hot-button issue discussed earlier today by the candidates running for the district three city council seat.
Chattanooga businessman, Ken Smith, is running against incumbent Pam Ladd.
The Chamber of Commerce hosted a debate between the two this afternoon.
The candidates answered questions from the public on various issues, including public safety.
Ken Smith, a District 3 Candidate, says, "There's just been an overwhelming outcry with people who are unhappy with the current status of city government. They're unhappy with the property taxes, storm water fee increases, road conditions."
Councilwoman Pam Ladd, currently in the District 3 seat, adds, "I personally will come out and see what your situation is, and get you an answer. Sometimes it's not the answer you or I want to hear, but I'll get you an answer."
The election is on March 5th, but early voting has already started.
