Dalton Police Sgt. Matthew Locke say a woman in her late 70's was home alone when she opened the door to her attacker Thursday morning.
"A male came to her door, engaged in conversation with her, she unlocked her door, he forced his way into the apartment where he later sexually assaulted her," Locke said.
The suspect left the home after the assault but not without a few witnesses spotting him.
Locke said, " The description we've got of him, he's a white male, maybe around 30 years of age, five foot eight, possibly taller, slender build. He left in a white older jeep cherokee, the old square body style."
Residents of Dalton are calling the whole thing downright disgusting.
"To mess with an elder or a young child or disabled person is really sad when you know humans will do that," said Mike Dockery.
Sgt. Locke said the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.
"Physically she's okay. She wasn't injured physically but she's with some family members now," he said.
