When the temperatures and leaves drop, winter-- and flu season-- are just around the corner.
The Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department urges everyone to get a flu shot.
The vaccines have arrived, so the Health Department is now making appointments at its Third Street, Ooltewah, Sequoyah, and Birchwood clinics.
The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot to reduce their risk of getting the flu.
Especially those who are considered high risk for complications.
Nettie Grestle is the Communicable Disease Control Program Director for the Chattanooga Hamilton County Health Department. She explains, "That would be your children 6 months through 5 years, especially if you're two years and younger. People 50 years and older. People with chronic medical conditions. Pregnant women, really important to get vaccinated. And anyone who takes care of these people. People in long-term care facilities."
