According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office:
Former DeKalb County Jail Administrator, Mitchell Dendy, has been arrested on 9 counts of harassment. Those charges stem from an investigation earlier this year that eventually resulted in Dendy’s termination for repeated violations of the Policy & Procedure Directives of the DeKalb County Jail pertaining to sexual misconduct, improprieties and harassment.

Dendy was also determined to be in violation of the DeKalb County Commission’s policy on sexual harassment as that term is defined in the county’s Personnel Policy Manual.

Three victims have come forward to pursue complaints of harassment by Dendy. These charges were presented to the Cherokee County Circuit Clerk’s office which issued the warrants. This investigation by the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office is continuing and additional charges may be forthcoming. This case has been referred to the Alabama Attorney General’s Office for prosecution. This case may be presented to the Grand Jury where some charges could be upgraded.

Dendy was booked in at the DeKalb County Detention Center yesterday afternoon and was then released after a bonding company posted his bond totaling $13,500.00.
