Former Chattanooga Mayor Gene Roberts died This morning at the age of 80.
Roberts was honored just last week when the city's new Public Service Complex east 11th street was dedicated in his name.
The former mayor was raised in that neighborhood.
He was born in Chattanooga and graduated from the University of Chattanooga.
Roberts was a former FBI agent, before he served as mayor from 1983 until 1997.
