Former Red Bank star basketball player arrested for burglary

RED BANK, Tennessee(WDEF) - Former Red Bank High School basketball star, Nicholas Ross, is one of four alleged burglary suspects who was caught on cell phone video stealing from an apartment that was broken into.

Ivan Newsome, 19, of Chattanooga, Nicholas Ross, 21 of Chattanooga and Xavier Moore, 21 of Chattanooga were all arrested together Saturday night after they allegedly forced their way into an apartment at 20 Mason Drive.

A neighbor who wished not to be identified for fear of retaliation said he heard  what sounded like a door being broken into. He quickly grabbed his cell phone and started recording video of four men who were placing stolen items into a car. One of the was reportedly holding a rifle.

Police located the vehicle on the 400 block of Sunset Court after running the tag number. Newsome, Ross and Moore were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, theft and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.

Police say all three men matched the suspects in the video but could not determine the identity of the fourth suspect.

While searching the suspects car, police found items that were taken from the apartment and they also found a handgun with serial numbers grounded off.

Ross is a former All-American Basketball player for Red Bank High School. He averaged 23 point per game.

The three suspects are due in court February 11.
