GRUNDY COUNTY, TN, (WDEF)-It's been a hectic week for Courtney Rogers and her young daughter Madilyn.
Checks and donations have been flying in from Alaska to Eastern Europe raising money to provide a support dog for diabetes sufferer Madilyn.
"She's unable to communicate, she doesn't talk to us at all, this dog is actually going to be her communicator you could say"
All you have to do to donate is jump in a cold lake or pond and post the video of it online.
Courtney says she is grateful for the support since the campaign began just one week ago.
"It's been a challenge each day, its not easy, we go to sleep thinking about diabetes we wake up thinking about diabetes"
Campaign organizer Wendy Tipton says their community has made Madilyn's well-being their main aim.
Wendy Tipton,"Its actually the people of Grundy that is reaching out of state, like facebook, and the friends of Grundy County, we couldn't have done it without them"
Tipton says the money from the charity cold water challenges will also be used to support Madilyn after the dog arrives.
Local community leaders say the atmosphere of support for the 2 year old does not come as a shock.
Aubrey Lee Harper, Community Leader, Mayoral Candidate, "The majority of people are great people, we all pull together, this is what Grundy County is all about, we are hard working people, when we see a need, we will act and respond to it in a positive fashion"
There will also be 5k charity race on April 12th starting at Pelham Elementary School.
The Facebook group behind the Cold Water Challenge now has over 3000 members.
