For one week, 27 restaurants in the Scenic City will have more locally grown products on their menus.

It's all part of the third annual "Harvested Here Restaurant Week." Melissa Siragusa, Public Relations Gaining Ground said, "Its all about going to these restaurants and seeing the special menus and the offerings that they are going to have. Showing you what they are doing really all year long, but to buy local." The event uses fresh fruit, vegetables and meat products within 100 miles of Chattanooga. Siragusa said, "It's all about providing more local food availability and increasing the consumption of local food because of course it helps our local economy." Participating farms and restaurants will encourage patrons to learn more about the source of where their food comes from. Daniel Lindley, St. John's Restaurant Owner said, "When something is grown in another country and comes across the country, picked unriped, shipped, passing hands a few times, the quality suffers." Lindley says the variety can also suffer.

You can try any of the new menu items at the participating restaurants until July 19th. Restaurants participating are: 212 Market, Alleia, Back Inn Cafe, Blacksmith's Bistro & Bar, Cafe on the Corner, Community Pie, Easy Bistro & Bar, Elemental, Enzo's Market, Famous Nater's World Famous, Flying Squirrel, Good Dog, Lupi's, Milk & Honey, Public House, St. John's Meeting Place, St. John's, Sushi Nabe, Taco Mamacita, Terra Nostra Tapas & Wine, TerraMae Applachian Bistro, The Blue Plate, Broad Street Grille, Tony's Pasta Shop & Trattoria, Urban Stack and Whole Foods.
