Memorial Day Weekend kicks off summer travelling for many families. AAA predicts 34.8 million Americans will travel this holiday weekend.
AAA projects more people are likely to travel on the roadways as a result of falling gas prices. The national average price of unleaded gasoline is $3.68. Georgia's average of $3.45 and Tennessee's average of $3.40 dropped 7 cents from last week.
Kenneth Ellison, Holiday Traveler said, "The gas prices are outrageous, but you have to pay it if you want to go anywhere. You have no other choice. Electric vehicles are too expensive and gas is the only fuel around."
The average travel distance decreased from 792 miles last year to 642 miles this year. Some travelers want to drive farther, but can not afford it. There are several tips that the traveler can do before heading off to their destination. Contacting a travel agent can save money. They should also put together a tentative schedule and have a budget in mind.
