With less than one week until Thanksgiving, one local group wants to make sure the holiday is a happy one for many families.
"Hope For The Inner City" held their 26th annual "Turkey for Two" outreach program on Saturday.
The group gave out frozen turkeys, fixings and groceries to nearly 700 people.
According to the Comprehensive Gang assessment, 45 percent of East Chattanooga adults are out of work.
That's why the faith based-group says the need is greater than ever.
"This year, in particular, has been overwhelming, with the economy and lots of folks out of work, everybody seems to be in need and so we had an overwhelming response, about 400 folks we service this year as compared to about 300 last, so just an overwhelming response of need," Paul Green, Executive Director of "Hope For The Inner City"
The group is still in need of monetary donations. If you'd like to donate just go to their website http://hope4theinnercity.org/
