A former victim of human sex trafficking speaks to a Chattanooga crowd Friday morning.
Theresa Flores says when she was 15 years old, she was drugged, raped, and tortured in Michigan.
She says that went on for two years.
Now, as part of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, she wants to tell her story.
Flores tells us this form of modern day slavery happens more often than you think.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office came to Flores' presentation to show their support in fighting this crime.
Flores adds, "It is extremely difficult to share your personal story, something you wish you would never remember again with strangers, but it's so important because now 300 people just learned about human trafficking in the United States. Maybe they'll know somebody that this is happening to and help her."
