Based on an email from the department of corrections received today, Neal Pinkston of the DA's office can confirm that Jesse Mathews has been moved to a more secure prison.
"I think all the information, based on his past in Colorado and the case facts, that such is warranted".
Mr Pinkston also said he was unaware of Jesse Mathews being held in a medium security environment but after media and local pressure thinks the relocation to West Tennessee State will offer increased security.
"Level of supervision, freedoms allowed within the institution, things of that nature, would allow designations between what is medium and what is high."
Craig Joel of the Fraternal Order of Police is relieved that Matthews will be moved to the facility an hour north of Memphis.
"They caught this kind of thing, never stop observing, be a part of the system, you are the system, be a part of it, i'd love to shake the person's hand who caught this oversight".
