Local business partners develop one-stop-shop medical centers in Chattanooga, Hixson, and Cleveland.
They are called Doctors Express, and by the end of March, all three will be open for business.
They are a little different than what we have seen in our area.
Each clinic has a lab, pharmacy, and on-site doctor.
They are not open around the clock.
However, organizers says they are a lot cheaper than emergency room visits.
An average trip will cost you anywhere from $90 to $120.
Doctor James Newby, with Doctors Express, says, "I guess the concept is like one-stop shopping. We want to be able to let you come, see a doctor, and get your prescriptions. We don't have every bit, but we have a lot of the medicines that the people need, and and will have you on your way in an average time of 20 to 30 minutes."
Larry Kugler, also with Doctors Express, adds, "We all know that healthcare is expensive, and it's not getting any less expensive. There's a great bureaucracy that that most people have to go through in order to obtain healthcare. We want to be part of the solution to the problem."
Organizers tell us this is the first time urgent care has been nationally franchised.
