Charles Harrison says he could only stand and pray as Chattanooga firefighters cut the front windshield out of a van.

Bruce Garner with the Chattanooga Fire Department, says, "They also used some equipment to cut part of the roof and peel it back, so they could get inside to the other victims."

Twelve victims in all; one driver and eleven adults with special needs from Serenity Adult Day Care out of Chattanooga.

Police tell us Rosendo Guzman, 29, ran a red light on the 2500 block of Hickory Valley Road.

He ultimately slammed into the day care van, tipping it over on its side.

Garner adds, "They got all the victims on backboards, stabilized the victims, so they couldn't move around much and got them ready, packaged them up another words, for transport."

Four people from the day care van suffered minor injuries, however, everyone was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Guzman and his passengers were not hurt.

Guzman was cited for violation of a traffic control device, driver's license violation, and no proof of insurance.

Harrison adds, "We were just concerned and praying that the people involved, that God would watch out for them."

Fire officials say the six ambulances and the other crews kept the situation from turning into a nightmare.

Serenity Adult Day Care could not be reached for comment.

Chattanooga Police said the day care van did have seat belts, but no word on if everyone was buckled up.
