CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)-The countries most successful city leaders and entrepreneurs will come to Chattanooga in mid April.
They will be part of the Vanguard Conference hosted by Philadelphia Non Profit, Next City, highlighting the best examples of City's doing it right in North America.
Mayor Andy Berke,"Vanguard experience is really about bringing the 40 young people into our city, talk about the great things that are going on here and around the country in terms of cities"
Mayor Berke says this is another reassurance that the Scenic City is carving it's own path as an economic and IT hub.
"We're the first southern city, we are a small city for them, it really highlights the way our renaissance happened, with the gig, a vibrant downtown and Volkswagen is playing and people are recognizing us around the world"
Editor and Chief of Next City Magazine in Philadelphia, Diana Lind says the 3000 word proposal on Chattanooga left them blown away.
"Its urban planning, its focus on its river, public spaces, things like that, it seems like a really excellent opportunity for people from the country to learn from Chattanooga"
The proposal was submitted by local woman Lisa Flint.
Digital and Social Media Entrepreneurs from as far away as silicon valley greeted the news.
John Rampton, Entrepreneur and Huffington Post Business Writer, "To encourage events like this so that entrepreneurs can all have a central hub, a place to find each other and grow big companies, its entrepreneurial events like this that really help, grow and build up the entrepreneurs"
The Lyndhurst, Benwood and Footprint foundations will sponsor the event.
It all kicks off April 24th 2014 with spaces allocated for top community leaders from Chattanooga as well as the brightest 40 under 40 in the US.
Past cities chosen for the prestigious conference include Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, St. Louis and Cleveland Ohio.
