CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF),  Snorting and Swallowing of cinnamon have taken the internet by storm but medical professionals are not seeing the humor.

Dr Melissa Hamp of Erlanger says "The report is important to highlight to parents that they need to be aware of this, there's been an increase in the number of children and teenagers who have been having bad side affects as a result of this game".

One Chattanooga therapist has already dealt with two cinnamon related patients this year alone.

John Fitzpatrick, "This can be an isolated incident it begins in one county, and then now spreads to 50,000 videos in one month on Youtube and other sites".

Allergy specialist Dr Todd Levin is concerned for those who already have asthma or pollen related issues in the Tennessee Valley who then take cinnamon.

"Basically balls of inflammation that can obstruct the lungs and cause permanent damage and permanent scarring to the lungs."

While dozens of cases have been reported many are never known about, with cinnamon reported to even cause the collapsing of some children's lungs.
