A brand new baby, for a brand new year.
Mom Maria was still recovering, but new Dad, Matthew Dutton, let WDEF take a peek at Chattanooga's first baby of 2013.... Mobley Alexander Dutton.
Originally due December 28th, Matthew says he and his wife were planning a natural birth, and didn't know when Mobley might arrive.
"2012, 2013, really we didn't know, so he just decided he was ready to be here right after midnight...2013," he beamed.
So while many rang in the New Year by taking in a concert, or watching the ball drop, the Duttons had a very different experience.
"Watching monitors and listening to beeps and a lot of different sounds that you don't normally associate with New Year's all great sounds."
Born at 12:33, the baby boy is the Dutton's first child...so this new year's baby signifies a special new beginning for the family.
"We've got this little guy and he's relying completely on us, and that's what really matters, you know?"
Matthew didn't think much of the special date at the time.
"You know I hear people, like the staff like wow this could be a New Year's baby. I was like 'what does that mean'? It doesn't mean a whole lot to me but I guess it's something special, you think about it and think what are the odds."
But this proud parent does look forward to celebrating Mobley's future birthdays.
"The whole world's gonna celebrate it! We can turn on the TV and there will be fireworks in Australia for your birthday!"
