Girl Scouts across the nation celebrated National Girl Scout Cookie Day.

Local Girl Scouts rode in decorated cars alongside a Meals on Wheels route. The girls surprised five homes that receive meals on a daily basis with girl scout cookies. They also handed out cookies on the Walnut Street Bridge, the American Red Cross and McKamey Animal Shelter. Representatives say that the girls gained more communication skills through this experience. Throughout the years, their mission has remained the same. Kristi Stringfield, Recruitment Coordinator said, "The mission of the girl scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place."

The Girl Scouts will be taking orders in person through February 10th, and online reservations at IWantCookies.org.
