Where three months ago there was an overgrown wasteland now stands a park of modern art.
Designed by renowned North Carolina artist Thomas Sayre, the park aims to blend into the city environment while still drawing on local landmarks, culture and connect people as a symbol for the area.
Designer Thomas Sayre says, "So we are bridging with this bridge, if you crank, you can make it a line and the bridge lands to the north and to the south a thousand feet long, really, visually".
Making the three bridge sections join together is meant to take physical effort and act as an outdoor gym.
With a total cost of about a million dollars, most of the funding has come from the Lyndhurst Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
