Technology is all around us.

That statement has never proved more true for a group folks here in Chattanooga.

J. Wayne Cropp, President of the Enterprise Center, says, "We're talking about the importance of technology in Chattanooga and talking about how that fits in the economic development picture in the city."

A technology conference was hosted Wednesday by the Enterprise Center in Chattanooga.

Developing America's fastest internet service may have helped put this region on the map, but there are hundreds of other people at the conference who are looking to do the same thing; make a name for themselves and help the community grow.

Cropp adds, "We've seen really a transformation in terms of advanced manufacturing and our manufacturing base."

While manufacturing is the backbone of this community, it's also based on technology.

Last year, organizers say eight start-up companies pitched their ideas to more than 25 investors.

They ultimately raised more than $3 million dollars in funding, and they hope to do the same this year.

Cropp says, "We have great opportunities ahead of us as a community in the future."

This was the Enterprise Center's 6th annual conference.

Hundreds of people around the world participated.
