CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Just one day after authorities pull the bodies of two missing boys out of the Chickamauga Creek, more information is coming out about one of the victims.
Doris Ray said in the past, she warned her 11-year old son Kentory about staying away from the dangerous creek behind their apartment. Despite her warnings, he continued to go there.

"So I kept him in the house for two weeks and it drove me crazy but I told him for now on he just stay out front where I can see him and keep my eye on him," Ray said.

Around 1:30 on Sunday, Kentory reportedly told his mom he was going out to play basketball when in reality he was heading back down to the creek with 11-year old Thomas Ruffin and two other boys. She didn't learn the truth our until three hours later when police came knocking at the door with two of the boys who were last Ray and Ruffin.

"The little boy told me that Kentory was indeed down there with Thomas and they were both floating in the water the first time but they decided to do it again and this time the current got them," Ray said.

20 hours later, a dive team found the Kentory and Ruffin dead. Both bodies were found submerged not far from where the boys went missing.

Neighbors are now asking if a barrier could be put in place to prevent another child from wondering into the creek; a creek that many say is in an area that is very dangerous to walk through; even for adults like Tracey Williams who went searching for the boys.

"It's not even a real trail. We went through trees. I have cut marks on my wrist and face and the land drops," said Williams

"The fence that should be back there should be just as old as the apartments are here. There are no no trespassing signs, no warning signs or anything and kids are going to be kids," said neighbor Jonnie Higginbotham.

WDEF did contact the housing authority to see if there are plans to put in a barrier but no one was available to talk to about it.

As for Kentory Ray, his mother said his funeral is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
