NIOTA, TN, (WDEF)- Belma Brazzell of Niota is passionate about her home "It's a good little city, we had no trouble what so ever."

A petition is circulating to remove Commissioners Richard Rutledge and Leesa Corum, some locals blame them for losing the town's insurance.

Becky Dawson,"I got 60 voters and the guy off the fire dept went around and got 4 other pages full to try and Richard and Lisa to step down."

Jacqueline Perry,"No one on duty in case a fire burns anything, before long if nothings not done, it's not even going to be a town anymore."

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the towns insurance issues that Corum and Rutledge deny is their fault.

Former Mayor Martha Walden,"Thank god the TBI are coming in, if there is anything that is not right, get it corrected, get it fixed, lets get on."

Niota has less than 50 days to figure out how to keep water, garbage, fire and police services running before the temporary insurance runs out.

A meeting will be held this coming Monday May 6th in Niota to discuss their current issues.
