CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - A House fire on the 5400 block of Hixson Pike sent one person to the hospital.

It happened Tuesday morning just before 9:30.

Jamie Lemay was on his way to work when he drove up on the scene.

"When I got closer, I realized there was smoke coming out of the roof of the building," Lemay said.

According to Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner, the fire started in a back bedroom. Crews quickly put out the blaze and contained the bulk of the damage to that one room. The rest of the home sustained smoke and water damage.

A 54-year old man was taken to the hospital.

"He was sitting in his pickup truck and he was unresponsive so we got Hamilton County EMS to transport that individual to a local hospital where his condition is being assessed," Garner said.

The pickup truck was located right nest the side of the home. It's unclear if the man was inside the house when the fire ignited.

The home is also a business with a sign out front that says Psychic Reader.

Cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
