School officials are still shaken up over this, and rightfully so.
Here's what happened.
During fourth period class a group of students were in the qym playing basketball.
Principal Mark Bean says a senior took a shot and then collapsed.
We're told he did not have a pulse.
Luckily, the school nurse and the athletic trainer were just feet away and performed CPR on him.
They also ran over to where their defibrillator is housed, and used that to revive the teenager.
It worked.
Bean says he's proud of his quick thinking employees.
Principal Bean adds, "It was really ironic because they were only playing at one goal. It was not full court basketball. It was just guys shooting a basketball down there and the coaches were probably just 20 feet away when the young man collapsed, so it was just a great job by all involved to take care of the young man."
Now, we're told the student was breathing again by the time he was transported to Erlanger, but no word on his condition right now.
We'll be following this story and bring you much more on it tonight at 11.
