CHATTANOOGA, Tn (WDEF-TV)- Open enrollment is finally here, and with this new healthcare system there is a lot of confusion also.
Here in Chattanooga two organizations are lending their hands to help enroll people the correct way. Everlena Holmes is a Certified Application Counselor who wants to ease the confusion.
“It’s important that we understand the process,” Holmes said. “And we are not confused because the public’s already confused.”
Nancy Ridge is a Navigator Manager, and The Medical Foundation of Chattanooga will hold nine enrollment events a select locations.
She encourages people not only to know what they want, but also to know you’re health situation.
“Questions they need to be asking themselves, what type of coverage do I need? Do I go to the doctor’s several times a year or do I just go 2 or 3 times a year,” said Ridge.
Other information you need to bring when you are ready to enroll are your social security cards, tax information to verify income, and also any information about people in your household who will be enrolled on your plan.
December 23 is the deadline for those looking to be insured on January 1, 2014.
