CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) - Orchard Knob Elementary is the first school in Hamilton county to receive the "Gold Award of Distinction" from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
This is the highest award level as part of the Healthier U.S. School Challenge.
School leaders made a commitment to boost physical activity higher than the state averages.
And officials also worked to boost education about nutrition, and improve school meals.
The school's Principal, P.E. Teacher, Cafeteria Manager and School Nutrition Supervisor worked together to make the change.
