In honor of our nation's birthday, the Declaration of Independence was read Wednesday at the Catoosa County Courthouse.

People from all different walks of life got the chance to stand up and read parts of it.

The event was sponsored by members of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Similar
readings are being held all across America this holiday weekend.

David Dunn, a Circuit Public Defender, says, "This country's being torn apart by all kinds of political divisions and people get so wound up in that they forget the things that unite us as Americans."

More than 50 people celebrated Wednesday's second annual event.
