PRESS RELEASE

At 7:40 p.m., a 9-11 call was received reporting a house fire at 509 Harwood Drive (Red Bank area). Red Bank firefighters responded and arrive on the scene reporting fire around the chimney area and smoke pouring out of the eaves. Firefighters quickly gain entry into the house where they extinguished fire in the attic area.

During the overhaul/interior operations, the living room ceiling collapsed on two on-duty firemen. No names given at this time. Hamilton County EMS was on the scene and transported both firefighters to Erlanger Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Red Bank Fire Department requested a mutual aid response for additional manpower. Walden's Ridge Emergency Services and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

The renters, Kim Wyatt and Jenny Fein, reported smelling "marshmallows roasting" from somewhere in the house. Ms. Fein went into the garage to investigate and found fire showing at the corner of the garage. She attempted to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful. They immediately evacuated the home with all four dogs.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist them. Damages estimated at $60,000 and cause is determined at this time and will be under investigation by Red Bank Fire Department.
