It doesn't matter if your for them or against them... Your are giving up your freedoms each time will allow this to continue. There are many ways to save lives without charging hard working people who don't deserve to be fined. A study was done in Georgia that extending the yellow light time VS red light cameras this saved more lives without invading your rights. Many people think its a good idea but that is short term thinking because if you allow the government to do this that opens the door for them to continue find new ways to get into your pocket as well as your life. Eventually they will start invading your rights in ways you will find extremely offense and won't have a leg to stand on because you opened the door. Stop look short term people since when has the government ever done something that was for the good of the people?

Red light cameras produce profits ONLY when the yellow intervals are deliberately set too short for the actual traffic speeds and/or when cameras ticket safe slow-rolling right on red turns. The cameras are only financially viable when they issue most tickets to safe drivers who were not causing safety hazards. It is so interesting to see the negative reaction of people regarding the red light cameras. Basically, the people are saying "We don't care if you have a device that reduces injuries and fatalities, while adding revenue to a cash strapped city government, and when it catches someone in the act of breaking the law, the citation doesn't go on their record or increase their car insurance." Most people will tell you they are law abiding citizens, but truth be known, they are the same ones who have pressured officials to get rid of the cameras.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Adm(NHTSA),Chatanooga is the 7th most dangerous city in the country(based on traffic fatalities per 1000 population).Yes, that would include the little towns surrounding the city because these same idiots who cause the problems drive through there too. No turn signals, driving way too fast for conditions,weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating, cellphoning, etc. Unless you put a cop at every light, then you're not going to catch anyone. Ever notice how the turn signals come on and the speed goes down when a police car is in sight? The people in this area are simply to stupid to drive safely,so some sort of heavy handed law enforcement is necessary.
