CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)-Bert Shramko, Concerned Local,"Most of the people you see here are pretty good, law abiding so it's a shock to me"

Tuesday evening police arrived at these apartments off Dayton Blvd.

They were responding to a  tip off, that a wanted man, Lorenzo Jerry Rumbley was in the Chattanooga area.

"Police say Rumbley was staying right behind me with his girlfriend and neighbors say he was new to the area but kept to himself,a  quiet guy."

25 year old  Rumbley initially resisted arrest after police discovered he was staying at apartment number 8.

Chief Tim Christol,"He barricaded himself inside the residence but we were able to negotiate a successful retreat as such for him, where he was able to come out and surrounded without further incident"

Chief  Christol added he is proud of his officers for playing a part in catching a man connected to five armed robberies in Michigan.

"We don't have a lot of resources but when we can reach out and assist other agencies especially at the state and federal  level, it gives you a really good feeling that the impact we have is greater than what we do every day"

Bert Shramko says the local bridge players who are based just a few hundred feet from where the arrest happened are relieved and grateful.

"I thought the area was pretty safe but really, really relieved that it is taken care of and appreciate our law enforcement officers for doing what they did"

Rumbley faces charges in Tennessee of  violation of an order of protection.

He is currently being held at Hamilton County Jail.
