For these kids, Sunday is spent at the ball park, so a couple of local coaches decided to bring the Sunday sermon to the mound.
"Just sharing the word of God with them for 25 to 20 minutes on a Sunday morning and making sure that it's not a replacement for church but we want to bring Christ with us everywhere we go. Baseball is the common denominator that we shared that allowed us to bring forth the gospel to all these kids on the baseball field," said Bartlee Norton, Co-Founder of Rounding Third Ministries.
"What coach said carries such a weight and a voice in these young men's lives, you have to step up to show these boy's what a man of integrity is," added Aaron Franklin, Co-Founder of the ministry.
That's the goal of Rounding Third ministries, rounding these players into young men of character.
"It asks us to dig down and do what's right and sometimes that's difficult to do after you lose a hard fought game, but again that's where the message has to be carried even off the field. We've got to go beyond just the typical sports things that we learn," said Norton.
"It's a team sport. So you really have to learn what it means to be a good team member both on and off the field to give an encouraging word when your teammate may strike out. To give an encouraging word when your teammate may make an error in the field," added Franklin.
The ministry has been a big hit with parents, who want to see more.
"The church is not in a building, it is with other believers no matter where you are at and so it's really cool," said Barbara Lamb.
"To be able to bring that in as a help to these kids to be able to grow in their lives and make them into a man of integrity it's an awesome thing they are doing," added Daniel James.
It's a message the coaches hope they'll carry beyond the ball field.
"That's going to carry them into life. That's going to help them be the next great business leader, the next great father, to be the next great president," said Franklin.
