"I have trained more players than anyone in the history of the game"
"I led the 1978 World Series in hitting."
For Brian Doyle, his lifelong dream became a powerful overwhelming reality
"I remember dreaming as a nine year old boy, sitting on a cardboard second base,  and the fans were the trees the limbs and the leaves. In '78, I'm standing at the real Yankee Stadium, second base. And Davey Lopes, the Dodgers second baseman, and Bill Russell, the Dodgers shortstop saw me crying. I wasn't crying because I hit a double, I was crying because all I could do was remember that nine year old boy sitting on a cardboard second base."
But Doyle's journey to spread the gospel has led him beyond the friendly confines of the baseball diamond.
"I was in Nicaragua. There's a Nicaraguan gang coming, and they all had machetes and they are coming to the field. The leader stepped up. I took a dime and put it in his hand and I held a penny above my head. I'm going to prove my hands are quicker than yours, I'm going to exchange the coins before you can close your hand. If I win, you get a brand new glove if I win you have to come to my school, so I exchanged the coin. That kid who was the leader of this notorious gang, is now the praise and worship leader of the church in Nicaragua."
Doyle is a part of Rounding Third Ministries, formed by two local coaches. A small organization that has grown to do big things.
"We referred to ourselves as Two Men and a Bible, like Two Men and a Truck, we were two men and a bible," joked co-founder Bartlee Norton. We've grown from two to ten, we have wonderful people joining our organization. This year alone, we've already seen over 600 kids come to Christ, and just today alone, we've had over 250 kids come to Christ."
And the end of the day, no one walked away a loser, and learned a very powerful lesson in the process
"If you are not dreaming, you are not living, whether you are 8 years old or 98 years old. You've got to have a dream. Home is our heavenly home, and every kid needs to hear it. Every person need to hear it."
