The Scenic City roots show is more than a concert.
It's a live radio show, highlighting four acts every month.
And one of those acts is always local.
Last week, legendary songwriter Roger Alan Wade joined the show.
You'll be able to see his performance later this summer on W-T-C-I.
Wade has been playing festivals and bars around here for years.
You may know this resonant voice better than his face.....
ROGER ALAN WADE "If you know what sweetmilk and lightbread are..you're one of us. Classic country Q973 and 993. "
He does radio, including Sirius XM Outlaw Country on Saturday nights.
But he sticks close to home.
ROGER ALAN WADE, SINGER/SONGWRITER "I'm just a hometown boy to the marrow...man..I've been around the world..nice places...and I'm here by choice..simple because I couldn't find anywhere I liked better."
And longtime fans of the boy from Brainerd, know Roger Alan Wade as a talented performer who wrote number one hit songs like this one.
HANK WILLIAMS, JR. SINGS
ROGER ALAN WADE "When I set out to do this, I wanted to get my heros to record my songs..and I got pretty lucky...got Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and George Jones and Hank, Junior..I got most of them there."
Roger also does music for movies of his cousin, actor/producer Johnny Knoxville.
ROGER ALAN WADE "There's one that's been awful good to me.recorded by a bunch of folks that was in the jackass tv series and all the movies so it's pretty well worldwide...called "if you're going to be dumb, you got to be tough."
Roger performed last weekend at Scenic City Roots.
ROGER ALAN WADE "Dealt with a lot of them over my career..and I don't know that I've ever dealt with more professional, more kind-hearted and genuine folks than with Scenic city roots and Music City roots."
Now, you've met the Brainerd home-town boy, Roger Alan Wade.
W-T-C-I Channel 45 will air segments from the monthly shows.. But the air dates have been pushed back until May.
Roger Alan Wade's segment should run in June.
Meanwhile, the next Scenic City Roots show is coming up at Track 29 on May second.
It has entire new lineup, including local performers Ten Bartow.
