Senator Lamar Alexander says he has a clear and concise plan to create more jobs in Tennessee.

Senator Alexander adds, "One good way to create new jobs is to have more free trade agreements, and to create a larger number of exports for Tennessee."

Senator Alexander says he will help negotiate a new free trade agreement with the European union over the next two years.

He admits it could help our local Volkswagon plant.

They are currently competing with Mexico to produce a new SUV.

Senator Alexander adds, "If we had a lower tariff selling into Europe, it would make more sense for Volkswagon to build plants in the United States and sell products back to Europe. It would be a plus."

Allowing manufacturers to sell their products overseas, without any tax, would mean thousands of new jobs for Tennesseeans, according to Alexander.

That's also why he's cosponsoring a bill right now that would require the federal government to get involved.

Ronald Speicher, President of Davron Technologies, adds, "You know, it's a battle everyday. Property tax, various other tax that have hit us locally in the last few years, run a small business, it can be frustrations."

Those frustrations will be heard says, Senator Alexander, because he knows all too well deals between other counties could be lost if he does not act now.

That bill that Senator Alexander is cosponsoring is called the Regulatory Responsibility for our Economy Act.

There are more than two dozen other cosponsors on this bill.
