SODDY DAISY, TN, (WDEF) They are speaking out at meeting over renewing the licenses at Units 1 and 2 of the Sequoyah plant.
Sandy Kurtz leads a group called the Tennessee Mother's against Radiation.
She thinks renewing the licenses
will jeopardize the local environment.
But members of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission don't agree.
"This is pretty typical for our plants, three fourths of the plants in the country have already been re-licensed" is the view of Joey Ledford of the U.S.NRC
However Sandy Kurtz says
"A plant that's going as long as this one, and nuclear power is dangerous at any level of radiation and the excessive use of water is another concern."
