After months of "Stuffing the Bus", area teachers finally got to reep the rewards of the year long supply drive with a trip to the Teacher Supply Depot.
The depot, located at the old Mary Ann Garber school in Chattanooga, furnishes free school supplies for teachers.
More than 400 educators were signed up to take advantage of nearly 50-thousand dollars in free school supplies collected by the United Way of Greater Chattanooga.
In an age where many teachers have to spend their own money to get needed supplies for the classroom, the depot is a much anticipated program.
"They are so grateful and appreciative and excited to be able to do this. We had almost 500 teachers sign up so if that tells you anything of how really grateful and appreciative they are," says Sherrie Ford, President of the Hamilton County PTA.
The depot hopes to open at least two more times during the school year. For more information, https://www.facebook.com/hcptacouncil
