Witnesses describe the scene where a boy was hit on James rd. In Rossville as horrific.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper Stephen Poteet said, "The juvenile ran from the north shoulder here on James street in front of a Ford pick up truck and the ford pick up truck."
Those that knew him say he is a 14 year old..that lived at Happy Valley apartments.
They say he was just leaving a gas station with two of his friends, and didn't make it home.
"I've got three witnesses I've got two other subjects that were actually with the juvenile and they've explained to me that for some reason or other he just darted out into traffic," said Poteet.
Troopers say they found him lying in a ditch on the other side of the guardrail and the person driving the truck wasn't in the wrong.
"He stopped immediately and got out and tried to render aid to the juvenile. As of right now there will be no charges on him.  It appears as of right now the juvenile just darted into traffics.
Witnesses tell us the teenager was not responsive when emergency responders arrived, he remains at Erlanger hospital as of Thursday night
