Tennessee released their latest Report Cards for schools across the state.

Graduation rates, disciplinary data and achievement score breakdowns can be seen for every school across Tennessee. Graduation rates and student expulsion remained steady. The data also includes test scores in math, science, social studies and language arts. Hamilton County increased their math scores by six percent from last year. Language arts, science and social studies scores increased between one and two percent.

Superintendent Rick Smith said he his pleased with Hamilton County's achievement scores. However he is not as pleased with disparities in students' performance. Smith said, "That's the other side of this accountability model, where we have specific groups of students. There are actually four in this accountability model." Those four performance gaps occur between the white/asian population vs. all our other students. Special Ed. students vs. non-Special Ed. students. English language learners vs. non-english language learners, and children in poverty vs. those who are not. Smith said, "Urban school systems like Hamilton county, large systems, are going to have those populations." He went on to say that the whole idea of achievement needs stressed in those particular areas. Hamilton County teachers can now get performance data on individual students from years past to set plans and address those issues.
